Kenneth L. Brown

Branch Manager, RJFS Investment Management Consultant

For more than 40 years, Ken has been diligently using his experience and knowledge to serve his clients, from individuals and their families to business owners and company retirement plans. Ken and his team work closely with client’s tax, legal and banking counsel, carrying out effective and impactful financial plans because of that collaborative effort. That collaboration is a hallmark of the work we accomplish for clients.

Ken’s inspiration to pursue a career in the financial services industry originated with his uncle, who worked in the industry, and his grandfather, who was president and co-founder of Juran & Moody, municipal bond underwriters based in St. Paul. Ken began his practice in 1980, working with individuals and business owners on managing their assets and providing company retirement plans to help them attract, retain and benefit employees. He joined Raymond James in 1992, realizing he could make great use of the considerable resources and expertise of Raymond James to help his clients. Over the years, he has developed close working relationships with professionals across departments at Raymond James, including Asset Management Services, Consulting Services, Financial Planning, Technology, Wealth Planning and Retirement Plan Services. Their resources and support have helped Ken streamline his process, allowing him more time to focus on serving his clients.

Ken has earned many accolades throughout his life and career. He is a graduate of the Institute for Investment Management Consulting (Raymond James Level III) and a member of the Raymond James Retirement Plan & Institutional Advisory Council. He is also a past president of the local chapter of Optimists International. In addition, he is a class of 2012 active alumnus of the National Security Forum, sponsored by the US Air Force Air War College at the invitation of the secretary of the Air Force. Ken’s family has roots in both the Twin Cities and Duluth, Minnesota, but he grew up and attended high school in Sioux City, Iowa. He earned a bachelor’s degree in business-finance and marketing with a minor in international economics from the University of Iowa. Ken remains a life-long student and is currently pursuing the Raymond James Private Wealth Advisor designation. He has also attended the Raymond James Investment Banking Group’s Institute for Business Excellence program and can help private companies and their business owners pursue liquidity options and strategic sales and acquisitions.

Today, he lives outside Bloomington, Minnesota. He has three grown children and three granddaughters. His oldest son, David, is also an advisor and partner and works alongside him with all clients. When Ken is not hard at work, he enjoys the outdoors in all seasons. An avid lifelong guitar player, he enjoys playing and collecting guitars. He also follows a rigorous fitness schedule including Pilates, weight training and cardio. Ken has been an active leader in the church over the years. He also performed in a 12-member classic rock band at benefit concerts supporting various community initiatives. He is active with and financially supports local and national charities including FOCP Backpack Program in Mankato, Union Gospel Mission, Salvation Army, Sharing and Caring Hands, Project for Pride in Living, Samaritan’s Purse and Tunnels to Towers.
